Is 2024 the year to learn something new?
A recent survey reported on 2024’s resolutions for the New Year. It was really interesting to see that the old favourites of losing weight and reducing smoking were in decline and at the top of the resolutions was 99.1% of respondents wanted to learn something new*. This was closely followed by travel.
Would you like to learn something new in 2024?
Whether you are a regular water visitor or someone who would love to start enjoying the water. Now would be a great chance to learn about water safety and boat handling this year. Having this knowledge will help to keep you and others using the water safe. We require all RSM boat owners to complete and pass their RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling course – more commonly known as a PB2 course.
What is a PB2 course?
The PB2 is an RYA course (Royal Yachting Association) and it provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver. It aims to teach boat handling and seasmanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed, close-quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed and collision regulations.
The course itself is 2 days in length with a short test to pass. It is offered by many different centres that run them during the week and at weekends throughout the year to enable you to choose times that suit you best.

Once you’ve obtained your PB2 if you haven’t already been talking to us, now is the time to get in touch and organise a demo and to chat through the options open to you regarding buying a share in an Axopar or Ribeye boat. Owning a share will give you 1 week in 4 or 13 weeks a year to enjoy the water and travel onboard your well-equipped boat. Whether it’s the inlets of the Isle of Wight, visits to marinas on the South Coast or a longer trip over to Jersey or France. All are possible.
*The survey was undertaken by Brandwatch. It showed the most popular New Year’s resolutions by unique authors on X, Tumblr and forums from 27th December 2923-2nd January 2024 compared to the same period in the previous year.
